Saved searches and email alerts tutorial

As a registered member of the RCS, a number of features are available to help you stay updated on particular area(s):

1. Saving your RCS searches, for future use when you return.

2. Setting up email alerts, so that you are notified by email whenever a case is uploaded that addresses a particular Hathaway number, issue or jurisdiction.

You may manage your searches and alerts within your personal RCS member account area.

1. Saving your searches Question Mark

Once you have executed you search you will see a "Save this search" tab above your search results. After clicking that tab, you will be prompted to name your search. This can be anything that you find helpful to remember your search parameters.

Your search will be saved and accessible in the "My auto updates" section of your membership account.

2. Setting up an email alert Question Mark

When you save a search you will also have the option of setting up an email alert.

After naming your search, tick the box next to "Subscribe to auto update email alert" before saving your alert. This will open a menu allowing you to choose the frequency of your email alert for the search.

Select your choice of frequency and click "Save".

Your email alert will be saved and accessible in the "My auto updates" section of your membership account.

Managing your searches Question Mark and alert Question Mark

"My saved searches" and "My auto updates" can be accessed from your personal member account area.

To modify an auto update email alert, click on the spyglass next to the alert. This will open the search with the most current results. Click "Refine search" at the bottom of the "Search criteria" box above your search results. After making your desired changes, click "Search" and verify the results are satisfactory to your needs. Once you achieve your desired search results, save the search under a new name. Save the new search as an alert by ticking the box next to "Subscribe to auto update email alert" and set your alert schedule for this search. Click "Save" and your new search and alert will appear in your membership account.

To unsubscribe from any alert, click the "X" next to the search or question you want to unsubscribe from. An alert message will ask you to confirm your desire to unsubscribe. Click "OK" and you will see a confirmation that you are unsubscribed from that question or case alert.

Save your advice alerts Question Mark

RCS members may also subscribe to discussions in the "Need advice?" section. Once you find a question or topic of interest, click the "Subscribe" link below that question or topic. You will automatically be subscribed to receive email alerts when other members contribute to the discussion.
