Uzi Vogelman is currently a Justice of the Supreme Court of Israel. In April 2007 he was appointed acting Supreme Court Justice for one year prior to his official appointment. Previously, Justice Vogelman had been serving as a Tel Aviv District Court judge since 2000. Prior to that Uzi Vogelman started working in the State Prosecutor's criminal department in 1982, then moved to the High Court's petitions department, where he became director in 1995. The Supreme Court has jurisdiction to hear criminal and civil appeals from judgments of the District Courts. Cases that begin in the District Court are appealable, as of right, to the Supreme Court.
